While I was employed as Product Manager at Spongecell, it was my responsibility to organize usability tests.
I requisitioned an unused computer and moved it to our downstairs office. For the next year I would be running several tests per week. Beginning with casual, impromptu testing with folks we found on Craigslist, we gradually developed usability scripts, sophisticated methods of recording and disseminating the interviews, and a large list of usability testers who we could ask to return every few months.
I've made a video of one of tests that I conducted at Spongecell available online here, also check out one of the scripts that I created.
I enjoy usability testing. I enjoy interviewing the people, and I especially enjoy the little, mind-blowing, insights that you can glean from actually observing (duh), real people use your software.
